Sommelier note: the Souri variety is characterized by a full-bodied, robust, high-intensity flavor with medium bitterness and intense pungency. Its delicate earthy aroma has notes of artichoke, tomato leaves, black pepper and pine nuts.
Cultivar: The Souri variety (also called Souriana or Sourani) is found in the southern half of Lebanon, which includes Mount Lebanon, South, Bekaa and extends into northern Palestine. The variety takes its name from the ancient Phoenician capital of Sour and is considered one of the oldest and the finest varieties in the world.
