LGOO wins Gold Award with Orchards of Laila in New York @ the NYIOOC

Lebanese producer Genco Olive Oil has won a Gold Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its Orchards of Laila brand, an organic robust Souri.

Genco Olive Oil produces organic extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

Al Kaakour said that each season is challenging for organic farmers, especially in areas prone to pests, and 2019 was no different.

“Trying to maintain organic farming methods proves to be the most challenging for olive farmers,” he said. “We tend to be more exposed to disease, especially with the fruit fly. However, despite the extra effort, time and cost that organic farming entails, the end product of a clean top-quality organic olive oil justifies all the hard work and makes us all proud!”

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
